Florida Law: No Texting While Driving

Posted by Steven A. Bagen

Jan 2, 2014 8:45:00 AM

Thousands of motorists and pedestrians are injured and killed following traffic accidents each year. One major cause of these fatal accidents is texting while driving. Cell phones are great inventions, and yes, they do come in handy in the event of an emergency. By the same token, they are also health hazards and extremely dangerous when they are not used for their proper intent.

For this reason, Florida and other states have passed laws that prohibit the use of cell phones and other wireless devices while driving. One particular chapter and section of the law is 316.305 "Wireless Communication Devices; Prohibition." This section of the law is often referred to as the “Florida Ban on Texting While Driving Law.”

Cheerleaders are expected fixtures at football games, basketball games, pep rallies and more. However, this once rather innocent activity has been transformed in recent years. It’s no longer just the process of leading spectators to cheer for the home team. Cheerleaders today are competitive athletes. As such, they can be the victim of injuries just like any other athlete. However, thanks to new AAP guidelines, many of these injuries can be prevented.

This isolated incident is just one example of the increased rate of auto accidents in the area, and residents are desperately searching for answers as to why this is occurring.

Foggy conditions make for bad drivers
One common hindrance in the Gainesville area is the low visibility during morning driving.
